was the Torah ever kept in the arc?

I had a conversion about the torah that I can not find in the Bible and I need to know if you have the answer?
I was thinking right or wrong that the torah was placed in the Arc after Moses wrote them. I was thinking that after Moses died that the Books of Moses were placed into th Arc of the Covenant along with the 10 Commandments, the bowl of Manna and Aaron’s staff. Or may be Moses placed them in the Arc as he wrote them while being carried in the desert. I can not find this reference, even though I think that I have read it before. Please let me know if this correct and where I can find that reference, in the Bible. Thank you very much for your help in this matter.
