The Torah is the first 5 books of the old testiment. Remember the Bible can only be studied, never read. Once studied one should write their understanding of the torah and what they understand from it.

A torah contains the first 5 books of moses in hebrew. The book form is called in hebrew a chumash. There are many translations available. One of them is the old testiment in the bible which was translated from hebrew to greek to english. It is not entirely accurate due to mistranslations and because much is lost in the translation process (which it has undergone twice). Also, the christians have snuck some of their ideology into it. For a more accurate translation with a commentary on the text I would recommend the stone edition chumash published by artscroll. Their translation of the books of the prophets is also good. It is called the stone edition tanach.
To Fred: You would use a hebrew-english calendar. You can search online for jewish calendar and most should contain the torah portion read on shabbat. I looked and it said that your torah reading was parshat Bamidbar, which is the first reading in the 4th book of the torah, Bamidbar (or numbers as it is known in english).

I think The Jewish Jewels program on TV; has a catalogue where you can order the Torah study bookl. Not sure. There are probably several other places. Think Jewish Jewels is also on the internet. I have gotten different books from them. I am sure there is many places to order; I just don’t knopw them all.
